Circus
The first edition of Ponctuation Cirque at Théâtre Le Quai during last February’s school vacation brought together heretofore unseen forms of new circus modalities. From acrobatic variants to clown-like choreography, from the theater of objects to burlesque cabaret, the audience witnessed a range of performance styles that testified to the vitality and modernity of the circus arts. Whether it’s poetic, scripted or improvised, comical or political, or moving or breathtaking, today’s circus arts have reinvented themselves, and in so doing have unhesitatingly borrowed from other disciplines and have found inspiration in the liveliness of contemporary forms of expression. Building on the success of last February’s performances, Open-Arts is continuing its work in this domain and is once again inviting young companies to express their talents. Among these performers are Finland and France based Circo Aereo, whose energy, humor, virtuosity and creativity have met with resounding success around the world, and have made a major contribution to the flourishing of contemporary Finnish circus arts.
A partnership with Centre National des Arts du Cirque (CNAC) - an accredited circus arts training academy supported by the French Ministry of Culture - is in the works for these upcoming projects. Within the framework of a collaboration with Jeune Talents Cirque - a program that supports young European creators with a view to promoting the development of new forms of expression in the circus arts - Rémi Luchez, a 2008 Jeunes Talents Cirque prize winner, will be in attendance.
The top performers from this fall’s circus festivals will also be appearing at the Forum and Théâtre Le Quai.

Il se débat avec ses souvenirs, ses sensations, sa quête identitaire, enfermés dans 400 kg de glace, matière brûlante et indomptable qui pousse la prouesse du danseur-jongleur dans ses extrêmes.
