TERRAMORPHOSES
du mercredi 8 au dimanche 12 OCTOBRE 08
The Angers-based artist Lulu Balladart has been using unfired clay as her artistic medium since 2008. Her Terramorphoses, a work that explores the ecological, social and economic domains, will be populated by thousands of human and animal figurines made of unfired clay that will appear to have emerged from a body of water to invade the Forum and will meet various fates. Some will remain outside the building and others will be inside; but they will all speak to us of human and animal history since life began, and will also address various aspects of sustainable development.
And since ecology and art are tasks that concern - and remain to be done by - all of us, Lulu Balladart is an advocate of teamwork. All concerned have been given the opportunity to participate in this "monumental, collective and civic" project: since January, the hands of Angevins of all ages have been helping to make the figurines.
In tandem with Terramorphoses, the Forum will also play host to the bogolan cloth (cloth printed using mud-based dyes) of Malian artist Kandjura Coulibaly.
