LE TUBE 03
Du vendredi 19 septembre au dimanche 2 novembre | du mardi au samedi de 13:00 à 19:00
Rennes based artist Marcel Dinahet inaugurated the Tube series in March 2008 by appropriating the first of nine containers located in the Forum.
Tube, which is a joint École des Beaux-arts and Open-Arts project, consists of a series of installations in the Forum, or in the Théâtre Le Quai forecourt, with a view to enabling multimedia artists to appropriate a shipping container - a metallic cube that lends itself to a multiplicity of interpretations both inside and out. A source and frontier of the possible, a metal box enables artists to express their innermost feelings, experiment with limits, and in so doing explore the dialectic of movement and stasis. Each artist is free to paint over, constrain and liberate her inventiveness via this "sugar cube in a shoebox."
Tube 3 by Marc Hamandjian
The 2008-2009 Open-Arts season will start off with Marc Hamandjian’s Tube 3. Creator of a "mechanico-oneiric" world, this artist of an unassuming, banal and provisional architectural language has taken white resin as his form of expression. Hamandjian’s monochrome "We are such stuff as dreams are made of" creations offer each viewer the splendor of dreams in the form of a container. In Tube 3, the viewer carries a container between the forecourt and Forum, between "heaven and earth," a world of robust inner fictions.
All of the pieces from this installation will be shown in a large exhibition at the Forum and in the Théâtre Le Quai courtyard next summer.
