A young female sinner created by the libertine pen of Antoine-François Prévost in 1731, Manon becomes an innocent virgin in Massenet’s 1882 opera, whose music reflects the passions of the plot, and delightfully enlivens inns, balls and brilliant vocal ensembles, particularly the virtuoso duos and Massenet’s lovely melodies.
